Fitness and nutrition are about so much more than calories in versus calories out. (Phew!) They’re about fueling yourself mentally, emotionally, and physically, accomplishing things you never thought possible, and tapping into your inner badass. I’m the full-time writer, full-time sweat-lover who’s here to help you find your strength.
To me, writing and health have always gone together. While earning both my Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in journalism from the Medill School of Journalism, Media, Integrated Marketing Communications at Northwestern University, I concentrated on health and science reporting as well as gender studies. I thought the media’s dialogue surrounding exercise, nutrition, and weight-loss did more to beat people down than build them up. I was going to change that.
I believe I am. With my strong voice and even stronger belief that healthy is a state of mind, I have written for print and online publications including TIME, Women’s Health, Men’s Health, Runner’s World, SELF, SHAPE, U.S. News & World Report, Weight Watchers, Men’s Fitness, Yahoo! Health, Cosmopolitan, Daily Burn, and Girls Gone Strong. Every day, I work with top researchers, fitness experts, and healthcare leaders, enjoying the best fitness schooling the world has to offer.
I also have my CSCS (Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist) certification from the National Strength and Conditioning Association, which is a fancy way of saying I know my stuff. Because I’m trained both as a journalist and as a CSCS, I can bring you relevant, research-backed information that filters out the noise of the industry and focuses on what has actually been shown to work.
