“Rise of the (Weight) Machines” Named “Best Article” By Top Trainers

When it comes to the trainers I most respect in this sweaty, sweaty world of ours, Tony Gentilcore definitely sits at the top of the list. So when he listed my Rise of the (Weight) Machines: Why Exercise Equipment is Not As Bad You’ve Been Told article as (the first piece, not that I’m counting or anything!) in his blog post of Stuff to Read While You’re Pretending to Work, I was psyched! Then, James Harris made the honor that much sweeter by naming my article as the “best fitness article of the week.” Woot woot!

It’s incredible to receive such great feedback, especially from such knowledgeable, science-based, well-respected trainers. So, basically, you should rehab your relationship with exercise machines. Smarties like Tony and James agree with me.

Here’s what Tony said:

I used to be the snobby, douche of a trainer who felt using machines was a waste of anyone’s time and that all anyone ever needed was to use barbells and dumbbells.

It’s a very stupid notion to think that training should be a “one or the other” endeavor. Thanks to Aleisha for including me on this awesome piece, written for Adam Bornstein’s site.

And James:

Exercise equipment gets a bad rep — usually it’s not for legitimate reasons. While movement quality is a huge part of learning how to exercise, machine work can provide an added benefit to every lifter’s training regime.

You can read Tony’s roundup here, Jame’s here, or check out the original article on BornFitness.com.
